46% of My Summer Was Vacation

46% of My Summer Was Vacation

It's not too late to create your best summer yet....

I spent 46% of my working days this summer on vacation… and it was the best summer since my kids were born!  As a former accountant, I couldn’t resist doing the math. This year, our family was in a position to travel and spend meaningful time together, and I soaked up every second. I’m sharing this not to brag, but to show you what’s possible.  Because not every summer looks like this.

The Time is Now

Some of my friends and clients told me they’ve been loving my vacation pictures, but this year just wasn’t the right season for them.

For some it’s been a summer of loss - a loved one, a job, financial security. Others just started a new role and didn’t have time off. Still others were navigating big life changes - kids leaving home, relocating, caring for an aging parent, or facing health challenges.

These are very real reasons why a summer may not look picture-perfect. And that’s okay. We are all in different seasons of life, and sometimes the season calls for stability, healing, or simply rest.

But the reality is if you want next summer to look different, it won’t just happen by chance. You can’t simply hope next year will be better, you need to start shaping it now.

We traveled to NYC and NJ to see the iconic sites and visit friends and family.  My boys and I joined friends for a trip to London and then met my husband in Portugal to continue our trip.  In between the boys did a week-long sleep away camp in the Florida keys, and I took some days off to enjoy the keys as well.

Travel offers different perspectives and gets us out of our routines, allowing us to create memories and be together in ways that are harder at home.  But you don't have to plan a big trip to create presence.

My amazing summer wasn’t luck. It was years of saving, visioning, and intentionally redesigning my life - my career, where we live, how we work - so I could create a more flexible, sustainable balance I truly enjoy. Yes, luck played a role (no sickness, no major crises), but the foundation was built on purpose.

You have that same power. You can create not only the summer you want, but the life you want - a life you can enjoy in every season.

So, as this summer winds down, I encourage you to pause and reflect:

  • What did this season give you?

  • What do you want next summer to feel like?

  • And what is one step you can take now to move closer to that vision?

The next season of your life starts with the choices you make today.  And you don't have to do it alone.  Schedule a free call HERE and let's see how you can create exactly what you want.

Cheers to your best summer yet,
Sharon
