How is your diet going?

And I don’t just mean what you’re putting into your mouth. I’m talking about what you’re consuming every day: the headlines you read, the content you scroll, the conversations you absorb, and the expectations you quietly carry.  Because we are more than just what we eat. We are what we consume physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Your diet is everything you consume, not just food. And lately, many of us are over-consuming things that leave us feeling heavy, anxious, reactive, exhausted, and just.....off.

What if feeling better isn’t about adding more? What if it’s about less?

I'm talking about less noise, less pressure, less comparison, and less pretending. And more intentional choices about what and who you allow into your world.

Sometimes the most powerful shift isn’t asking, “What do I need to do?” It’s asking, “What do I need to let go of?”

Since the beginning of January, I’ve been paying closer attention to my own “diet.” One small but meaningful shift was cutting out sugary snacks after 7 PM.  Not from restriction, but from noticing how much better I feel without them.

I also removed Facebook from my phone over six months ago, and the impact on my focus and mood has been significant. I didn’t need more willpower; I needed fewer distractions constantly competing for my attention and triggering me.

Another change was taking back control of how information reaches me. My internet browser opens to a blank page now, not clickbait or outrageous headlines designed to hijack my nervous system before I’ve even had coffee.

I still seek out content and news when I want to but I don’t allow it to be sent to me involuntarily, whenever it wants. That alone has created more calm, clarity, and focus in my day.

So - what’s getting in the way of your peace right now? What needs to be eliminated, restricted, or softened because it simply isn’t nourishing you anymore?

Once we feel better, we can do better. We think clearer, show up more fully, and make decisions from grounded confidence instead of survival mode.

Of course, letting go isn’t always easy. There’s often grief when we say goodbye to old roles, habits, expectations, or versions of ourselves, and that’s not something we’re meant to navigate alone.

As Brené Brown reminds us, “We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.”
